A project which ultimately aims to be as diverse and experimental as possible whilst retaining its ugly charm and staying true to its metal roots. This sinister collaboration came to be at the dawn of 2003 when vocalist, Cain Cressall, and axeman, Jarrod Curley, joined forces to wreak havoc on modern metal. Both notorious ex-members (Jarrod formerly of Malice Unity, and Cain of Centaur/Pathogen) and each having had their fair share of session work, the time had come to collaborate on a project in which they would share one vision: A monster was born. Since forming, the duo have delved primarily in the vast confines of thrash and death metal. Their initial workings resulted in an early 3-song demo appropriately titled 'Welcome to Your Doom!' Released under the intentions of simply getting feedback and helping find members, the demo was subject to an overwhelming response, sparking a slew of hailing reviews and interest from prominent members of the international metal community. Since securing a full line-up, Malignant Monster has recently launched a limited-edition 7-song promo CD titled 'Foul Play'. The CD features re-recordings of the 'Doom!' tracks, as well as three new ball-tearers, a video for the opening track 'Old Corpus Dilecti' and a cover version of Megadeth's 'Liar' (from 1988's 'So Far, So Good, So What!'). Anticipation surrounding the project prompted a turnout of 300+ head-bangers to the launch, making a most honourable welcoming to the WA metal scene and a commendable live debut. With many prominent upcoming shows in their midst and plans for Eastern touring and full-length recording, be sure to keep an eye out for this modern thrash/death-metal spectacle.Featuring ex-members from previously established metal acts incl. Pathogen, Centaur, Avantgard & Malice Unity.
